Biondi Santi Tenuta Greppo Riserva 1983 750ml (No Barcode)

On taking off the foil there was a bit of debris on top of the cork that had me worried but I cleared this with a knife. Below was a cork that was clearly completely soaked through. On popping the cork there was an immediate room filling smell of chocolate covered dried cherries - wonderful. Appearance is wine is clear, pale garnet verging on tawny. In aroma clean pronounced nose of chocolate, leather, orange, clove, dried cherries, fig - absolutely intoxicating. Palate is Dry, medium plus acidity - this 36 year old wine still causes some puckering and drooling. Tannins have completely resolved. Body is medium minus but intensity is medium plus. Flavours deliver on the nose - chocolate covered dried cherries. The flavour goes on for a long time.
